This image from Mount Bonnell is the winner of this week’s Around Austin photo contest. Peter Gaunt made this photo after he climbed up to the highest vantage point he could find. Thank you for voting in this week’s contest, and be sure to come again next week. If you have a photo from around Austin that you want included in the contest, don’t forget to send it to us at photo@rootedaustin.com. Happy shooting!
Pete set some pretty high standards (literally) with this photo. Here’s what he had to say about it:
Driving up the winding roads to Mount Bonnell gives you the idea of what the view will be. This is a view of some of the homes that border Lake Austin. I’m fairly new to the Austin area, and I love going to places and seeing things that I haven’t seen yet. When I went to Mount Bonnell I loved the view of all the houses on the lake with the nature surrounding them. I also love that these homes are built in the hillside like old castles in Europe — just not as close together. Only with a view from high above can you get an understanding of how large these estates actually are. I’m very happy that everyone voted for this one to win!
Thanks again for voting. See you next week Austin!
