Rooted wants to grow into Austin’s home page. We will curate the best of the existing news and information and give you the tools to decide what’s important. When a story sprouts into something bigger, we’ll step in and fertilize the story with our own special blend of storytelling.

Curation of news takes many forms. We hope to give you a chance to tell us, and the rest of the Rooted community, what stories you’re interested in. We’ll hand pick the best Austin stories and put them on the site, and you can vote to make them grow or shrink in importance. You’ll also be able to tell people your thoughts about the stories, and we’ll give you the tools to spread the stories and your ideas themselves far and wide into your network.

Once a story grows to a certain point, the Rooted team will start digging into it so we can give you updates in our form of storytelling. We believe in deep, immersive storytelling that keeps the original characters as the base. You won’t see us talking to people then giving you our version of it, like many media outlets do today. We’ll let the people talk for themselves, and we’ll just be there to give them the tools to tell their stories. We’ll put photos, videos, sound, text and interactive graphics in a story package you get to take in however you want.

Together, we think these aspects can help the Rooted community grow into something special. To top it all off, we want you to be central in helping us make decisions. We hope you’ll tell us what you think and what you want so Rooted can start branching out into Austin.
