Around Austin photo contest 9/27/10
Monday, September 27th, 2010
It’s that time again. Autumn is taking root in Austin and the Rooted team took full advantage of the wonderful weather for making pictures. This week we have photos from Cassandra Adamson, Peter Gaunt and Logan Braman. We also have one submitted entry from Austinite Gene Chavez of ByChavez for your viewing pleasure. Enjoy, and don’t forget you can vote in the comments here or on Facebook, Twitter or Flickr.
First, Cassandra’s photos:
Photo 1: A break dancing Pecan Street Festival-goer lets loose during one of the several band performances during the day Saturday.
Photo 2: A woman enjoys the beat of the music at the main stage at the Pecan Street Festival.
Photo 3: Musician 19th Street Red sings on 6th Street during the Old Pecan Street Festival Saturday.
Photo 4: A puppy takes advantage of his owner’s still moment and falls asleep in her lap.
Photo 5: The lower falls in McKinney Falls State Park are hard to spot right away as they have cut deeply into the rock.
Photo 6: The rocky expanse near the lower falls at McKinney Falls State Park create interesting formations.
Photo 7: Husband and wife Govinda Lavdari (left) and Mokshada Dhakal attempt to rescue a stranded fish from an isolated pool of water near the upper falls at McKinney Falls State Park.
Photo 8: Clouds reflect the last of the sunlight across the river from Eiler Park.
Now for Pete’s photographs:
Photo 9: Candace Ackerman models a new pair of Dolce Vita boots in the Austin backcountry.
Photo 10: A man engages in conversation while sitting along Congress Avenue and 4th Street.
Photo 11: Grass and weeds fall into the street as water from the morning rain flows down the curb along South Center Street.
Photo 12: A woman crossing 4th Street on Congress Avenue leaves a reflection in a puddle left by morning rain in downtown Austin.
Photo 13: Wayne Barbee Catalytic Converters and Mufflers along Highway 290 is home to an interesting statue.
Photo 14: Bill Collins sits on his front porch carving one of his custom walking canes. He has made more than 950 canes and has given away more than 800 of them. Some recipients include Charlton Heston and former President George W. Bush.
That’s all for Pete’s shots. Logan has one photograph for this week:
Photo 15: This colorful dragonfly was one among many at the Umlauf Sculpture Garden.
Last, we have a collage that was submitted by Gene Chavez:
Photo 16: This image, titled “Great Graffiti,” captures some of the more interesting art at Hole in the Wall. Thanks for the submission Gene!
