Around Austin photo contest 12/6/10
Monday, December 6th, 2010
Last week we launched our main site and a submitted photo won our weekly photo contest for the first time ever. It was a big week, and we’re hoping this week will be even better. We have photographs from Rooted photographers Peter Gaunt and Cassandra Adamson, and it’s up to you to decide which one is best. Thanks for voting, and don’t forget to send us your shots at photo@rootedaustin.com if you want to be included in next week’s contest.
First, Pete’s images:
Photo 1: Amid the busy shops along South Congress this man plays his fiddle for money to help pay the rent.
Photo 2: The Hilton Hotel’s reflection can be seen in the mirrored windows of the building adjacent to it on 4th Street.
Photo 3: A motor scooter prepares to cross Lamar in south Austin.
Photo 4: Richard Barker sits on 4th Street enjoying the afternoon sun in early December.
Photo 5: Rooted photographer Peter Gaunt takes a self-portrait on the Metro Rail Station platform.
Now, on to Cassandra’s shots:
Photo 6: Austin looks bright and clean from a small running park off the side of Pleasant Valley Road.
Photo 7: A Christmas tree gleams out above a department store in downtown Austin.
Photo 8: A man takes a photo of a statue with a santa claus hat that he draped over its head.
That’s all for this week, thanks for voting! Don’t forget to check out the new site at rootedaustin.com, where we’ll be posting new stories at least three times a week.
