Around Austin 9/20/10

Welcome to the second installment of the Around Austin photo contest. This week we have entries from Rooted photographers Peter Gaunt and Cassandra Adamson. There were no submissions from Rooted readers this week, but stay tuned for an announcement about reader-submitted photos later this week. First, Pete’s photos:

Photo 1: From Mount Bonnell, the houses tucked in the trees on the opposite side of the valley look miniature.

Photo 2: Another view of the homes along Lake Austin is seen from the heights of Mount Bonnell.

Photo 3: A cyclist rides along the curves of Mt. Bonnell Road.

Photo 4: Gordon Thornton, 35, has been in Austin for three months.  He is originally from Alabama and regularly goes to open mic and poetry nights to perform.

Photo 5: The corner of East 7th and Waller Street features a mural supporting of life-long love.

Photo 6: The Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center has thousands of native plants throughout the grounds, including this cactus planted on top of a cistern tower.

Photo 7: Runners supporting the Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) program for children at the second annual CASA Superhero Run race to the finish line of the 5K route.

Photo 8: This super woman was tickled by the warm-up excersises before the 5K CASA Superhero Run.

  9. Photo #11 has our vote… he looks like the real “McCoy”! Will have to say we were impressed with #2 (neat view of the rooftops) and #6 (great detail)!
