And the winner is….

You’re looking at the first Around Austin photo of the week contest winner. Cassandra Adamson made this image with just the right mix of lightening, clouds and stormy weather. Thanks you to all who voted in this week’s contest. Be sure to come back again next week to vote for the photo of the week!
Cassandra said she happened across this photo opportunity after she got lost driving around Austin in the first few days she was here.
Thanks for voting on my photo! When I took this, it was getting ready to storm, but thesky kept holding out while it grew more and more interesting looking. Lightening periodically slashed the sky before the rain started. I knew to come to this building, which is located right off of 3rd Street and North Lamar, because I had gotten lost earlier in the day. I thought that what I decided was an abandoned train station would look interesting later in the evening. So when that time rolled around, the light spilling out from the nearby Amtrak station and nearby apartment complex did make it turn out pretty eerie.
Thanks for voting in Rooted’s first photo of the week contest. We’d also like to give a shout out to Lewis Weil and Larry Schnellmann for sending in photos to last week’s contest. Don’t forget, you still have until Sunday to send your own photos to photo@rootedaustin.com for next week’s contest.

Wonderful photo! I have no idea where in heck that is though!!!
Thanks, we’re glad you like the photo
It’s downtown off Lamar, just south of Whole Foods and just north of Town Lake.
It looks good. I couldn’t make up my mind on this photo or Pete’s car lights photo so I didn’t vote this time around. I was to torn.
